awake.
the darkness that enfolds me
slowly melts away with the
click-clack, click-clack...
for now i fear the light,
and nestle into my jacket.
the darkness succumbs to the
click-clack, click-clack...
I cling to the fading dream.
below me a cold, steel floor,
and the rhythm of the rails.
no birds sing that i could hear,
no chirp or twitter that
pierces the click-clack.
in my corner an eye opens,
blurred, as i give in to day.
cornered, boxed in, covered,
i am a nonentity, a stowaway
on a journey of dreams,
shutting out the light
and hoping to fall back into
my eternal fantasy,
but the music of nymphs
ever drowns in the click-clack.
would that the rails would fall quiet one night,
that in my box I could glide through the night sky,
a silent sleeper chasing the moon.
